3. Tính tổng của các tích đó: Cộng tất cả các kết quả “điểm tích lũy” của từng môn học lại với nhau để có tổng điểm tích lũy chung.
4. Chia cho tổng số tín chỉ: Chia tổng điểm tích lũy chung vừa tính được cho tổng số tín chỉ của tất cả các môn học bạn đã học.
5. Kết quả: Kết quả cuối cùng là điểm trung bình chung học tập (GPA) của bạn theo thang điểm 4.0.
III. Ví Dụ Minh Họa
Giả sử bạn có 3 môn học với số tín chỉ và điểm như sau:
- Môn 1: 3 tín chỉ, điểm B+
- Môn 2: 1 tín chỉ, điểm A
- Môn 3: 2 tín chỉ, điểm B
Bước 1: Quy đổi điểm sang thang 4.0
- Môn 1 (B+): 3.5 điểm
- Môn 2 (A): 4.0 điểm
- Môn 3 (B): 3.0 điểm
Bước 2: Tính tổng số điểm tích lũy:
- Môn 1: 3 tín chỉ × 3.5 = 10.5
- Môn 2: 1 tín chỉ × 4.0 = 4.0

- Tổng điểm tích lũy: 10.5 + 4.0 + 6.0 = 20.5
Bước 3: Tính tổng số tín chỉ:
- 3 + 1 + 2 = 6 tín chỉ
Bước 4: Tính điểm trung bình hệ số 4 (GPA):
- GPA = Tổng điểm tích lũy / Tổng số tín chỉ
- GPA = 20.5 / 6 ≈ 3.42
